Your CPD Requirements

Your CPD Requirements for 2017 is 20 hours of which a maximum of 10 hours can be obtained through e-learningSee 4 and 5 below for exceptions.

  • Group Study
  • Minimum 3 hours   Management & Professional Skills
  • Minimum 2 hour   Regulatory Matters

 

1) Group Study:

Includes attending: lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars, relevant Diploma or Certificate courses. A “live feed” of a lecture or the viewing of a pre-recorded lecture falls within the eLearning category.

2) Management & Professional Skills:

Includes areas such as; Performance Management, Future Planning, Time Management, Stress Management, Office Management, Human Resources or other training in Management and development skills. 

3) Regulatory Matters:

Regulatory Matters are defined in the Regulations as: "matters relating to the Solicitors Acts 1954 to 2008 and regulations made there under, to the current Guide to Professional Conduct of Solicitors in Ireland,  risk management, professional ethics, to the maintenance of standards and best practice in complying with regulatory obligations applicable to solicitors, to the processing of complaints against solicitors by the society and to the functions of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and the Courts in relation to solicitors and decisions relating thereto". 

 4) Sole Practitioner and/or Compliance Partner:

A Solicitor who is a sole practitioner or a compliance partner and/or an anti-money laundering compliance partner, shall be required to undertake a minimum of three hours Management and three hours regulatory matters, of which at least two hours shall be accounting and anti-money laundering compliance.

5) Senior Practitioner who is not a Compliance Partner:

A Senior Solicitor who is a not a sole practitioner or a compliance partner and/or an anti-money laundering compliance partner, shall be required to undertake a minimum of three hours in any category.
